2019 Crossfit Open Recap

2019 Crossfit Open Recap

With the 2019 CrossFit Games Open coming to a close we'd like to highlight a few of our VTeam Athletes performance during the Open.

This year's open was the first of its kind, operating under a new qualifying format. In previous years when competing during the Open, top athletes in each of the 18 worldwide regions would move on to another competition called, Regionals. From regionals, the season culminates into the Reebok CrossFit Games. At this point in the season, the field has been trimmed down from hundreds of thousands of athletes in the Open to the world's fittest 40 men, 40 women, 40 teams, 80 teenagers, and 240 masters.

Under the new Open format, the top male and female from every country with a CrossFit affiliate will receive an invitation to the Games as well as the top 20 ranked Men & Women in the world.

Jason Carroll former 2017 CrossFit Games Athlete is looking to make his return to the 2019 Games. Heading into the final week of the CrossFit Open Jason is in 11th place worldwide and on the brink of making his return to the CrossFit Games. He attributes a lot of his success to his extensive knowledge from the past 10 years of coaching and his education in Strength/Conditioning & Biomechanics that he received from Cal State Fullerton. Jason states, "There is no 'luck' in the sport of fitness; you have either done the work both mentally and physically or not." Jason has placed as high as 3rd place during week one of this year's open. Jason makes his return to the CrossFit Games after finishing 12th worldwide in this year's Open.
